Story :

Story :

To escape an arranged marriage, Fanfan, a young adventurer not adverse to a lady's charms, joins Louis XV's army.
To encourage him to enlist, Adeline, the very beautiful daughter of a recruiting sergeant, predicts that an incredible destiny lies ahead for Fanfan and that the king's daughter will be his should he march beneath the royal flag.
On his way to the army encampment in Aquitane, Fanfan intervenes and scares off a horde of brigands about to attack the royal carriage. It turns out that the carriage's passengers are none other than Madame de Pompadour and Henriette, the sovereign's daughter.
Fanfan sees this as a sign of Adeline's predictions coming true. The absurd complexities of military strategy, Fanfan's fiery spirit and many adventures complicate his dreams of grandeur. Risking his life, Fanfan tries to thwart a historical conspiracy that will bring him glory, unexpected love and the certitude that man can become master of his own destiny.

Pour échapper à un mariage forcé, Fanfan, un jeune aventurier très sensible à la beauté féminine, s'engage dans l'armée sous Louis XV.
Pour le pousser à s'engager Adeline, la très belle fille d'un sergent recruteur, avait prédit à Fanfan qu'un destin incroyable l'attendait sous les drapeaux et que la fille du Roi lui était destinée.
Mais lorsque en route vers le campement d'Aquitaine, Fanfan intervient et met en déroute une horde de brigands sur le point de dévaliser un carrosse royal, il s'avère que l'équipage du carrosse n'est autre que Madame de Pompadour et Henriette, la fille du souverain.

Histoire :

À Paris, où l'entraînent ses petites magouilles de fric, Alex (Guillaume Saurrel) va faire une drôle de rencontre avec deux filles : Fred (Lou Doillon), qui n'appartient pas à son milieu et dont il subit tout de suite le charme, et Sylvia (Caroline Ducey), tendre et solitaire.
Fred, pour éprouver Alex, organise un bizarre jeu de séduction. Comme un personnage de Marivaux, elle s'amuse à mettre en place les délicieux obstacles nécessaires à la naissance de l'amour : à Sylvia de séduire Alex, à Alex de désirer vraiment Sylvia. Mais le piège se referme sur Fred. Elle se prend d'un amour absolu pour Alex qui lui, ne sait plus à quel amour se vouer, tandis que Sylvia s'éprend de lui.

Story :

Born one Friday 13 at the Franz Kafka clinic, orphaned a few hours after his birth following an unfortunate argument between his parents, beaten up when he was ten by a little girl with whom he was madly in love, raised by a cantankerous grandmother and an alcoholic uncle… We could say that Grégoire Moulin got off to a bad start. Now well into his thirties, he's still living with his grandmother, is eternally single and has a lowly job with an insurance company.. His guardians' sudden death caused by a heavy wardrobe brings Grégoire to Paris where he discovers love in the shape of the delightful Odile Bonheur. She's a dance teacher and he ardently watches her from behind his desk that he's strategically stationed up against the pane glass window of "Assurances Vendéennes." Despite his consuming passion, excruciatingly anxious and inhibited Grégoire dares not approach beautiful Odile. Employing a shameful subterfuge, he manages to fix a date with her at a café called "Penalty." Alas, Grégoire's awkwardness and chronic anxiousness, along with the rudeness for which some Parisians are renowned, combine to transform this simple meeting into a wild race against the clock and humanity, with the French Football Cup as a backdrop. Né un vendredi 13 à la clinique Franz Kafka, orphelin quelques heures après sa naissance suite à une regrettable dispute entre ses parents, boxé à dix ans par une petite fille dont il était éperdument amoureux, élevé entre une grande mère acariâtre et un oncle alcoolique, Grégoire Moulin a pris, ce qu'on peut appeler, un mauvais départ.
À plus de 35 ans, il vit toujours chez sa grand-mère, est célibataire de longue durée et remplit les modestes fonctions d'employé dans une compagnie d'assurances. Le décès brutal de ses tuteurs sous une lourde armoire mène Grégoire à Paris où il découvre l'amour sous la forme de la délicieuse Odile Bonheur, professeur de danse, qu'il observe avec ferveur depuis son modeste bureau métallique judicieusement situé contre la baie vitrée des " assurances vendéennes ".
Anxieux et inhibé au dernier degré, Grégoire, malgré la passion qui le dévore, n'ose aborder la belle Odile. Usant d'un subterfuge inavouable, Grégoire réussit à arranger un rendez-vous avec Odile dans un café portant le doux nom de "Penalty". Hélas, la maladresse de Grégoire, le peu d'amabilité du Parisien moyen et l'anxiété chronique de notre héros vont transformer ce simple rendez-vous en une course-poursuite contre la montre et l'humanité, sur fond de finale de coupe de France.
Un enfer !

Jubilantly silly and inventive, " Grégoire Moulin versus humanity " successfully strings together a Rube GOlbergesque series of misadventures as the little character attempts to return a stolen wallet on the night of a decisive, all france is watching soccer match. Helmer, co-scripter and star Artus De Penguern graduates from making wacky shorts to the feature arena with this extremely funny and well-cast bout of sustained lunacy. A comic cri de Coeur for sensitive guys in a macho world, nordantly peppy pic is a contender for offshore hardtops.

I wanted to make this film because of the glut of "making of" videos designed to convince people that they can reveal mysteries of a film-shoot, these backstage productions merely reveal the futility of films and give a superficial view of the shoot. The heart of it remains secret.

After many years as a tourist guide in the Slave museum in Senegal, Alloune, 65, a widower living alone, decides to go to America, in search of his ancestors, taken away from his village two hundred years ago and sold as slaves in the New World. From Charleston to Little Senegal, in New York, he searches for his ancestors but also for an ideal vision of an African family, only to discover a strong ostracism between the African and African American communities, embodied by his nephew Hassan, a cab driver and his girlfriend Biram, an African with modern views on love and marriage; and Ida, an older woman, faced with seeing her pregnant granddaughter destroyed by hard life on the street.

Après avoir travaillé pendant toute sa vie comme guide de la Maison des Esclaves, au Sénégal, Alloune, 65 ans, décide de partir à la recherche des descendants de ses ancêtres vendus au Nouveau Monde, il y a deux siècles. Throughout the film we are critically aware of the strong social and economic pressures experienced in multiracial America. An African community, recently established in the center of Harlem, is faced with the same tensions, such as violence and racism, in terms of their Afro-American counterparts; just as is observed between other immigrant populations in the United States.

Paris, 1989. A boy hanging out in the desert of dead theories. "Let it happen, let it go" is his program. Until one day something else, meaning reality, intervenes. It is a girl, different of course, who has other things to do besides mourn over theories. Hippo falls for a girl who treats him as a parasite.

Critic :


It begins as a very pleasant fable about a layabout and a plodder, a boy who hangs out all day and a girl who hits the books, a hardworking Jewish girl and a bewildered goy. In the end, it is more than a portrait of manners. It is a warm, ironic consideration of our misfortunes, of our gnawing desire to go to the stars although we no longer believe in them and our remarkable capacity to spoil what life offers us when we are young. We can tell the boy and girl going to start over several times without it being more nor less easy than before. But even so we are pleased.

Jeanne, a beautiful young woman with a profusion of boyfriends, always seems to be in a hurry. One day, she meets Olivier, HIV positive, who turns out to be the true love she's been searching for. When Olivier learns he has little time to live, he vanishes, leaving a troubled Jeanne alone, desperately searching for some sign of him. After a while, Jeanne learns that Olivier has died. But she resolves that life must go on.

Jeanne est une belle femme toujours pressée qui a beaucoup d'amants. Par hasard, elle rencontre Olivier : c'est le grand Amour qu'elle recherchait... Olivier, séropositif, disparaît volontairement de la vie de Jeanne au moment où sa maladie se déclare. Elle tente en vain de retrouver sa trace. Un jour, Jeanne apprend qu'Olivier est mort, mais la vie continue.

Critic :

It is the film about AIDS we no longer expected. It's the film about love we didn't expect. It's an even more marvellous surprise that in a film that's bilingual in more than one sense and is double-headed in its conception, the pains of death are words of love. Jeanne is a film that, from her window, participates in a contemporary whirlpool of protestors whose singularity is in being political in an embarrassing way for a minority. That Jacques Martineau and Olivier Ducastel have been Act-Up militants is indeed not foreign to their way doing things. Jeanne is a film with no papers, no home, no identity and without precedent, which knows how to turn all these hardships into a raging demand.

Fernand, a repentant hood, gets back into harness to defend the inheritance of the daughter of an old associate. The inheritance is a gambling den and a clandestine distillery that some unmentionable " uncles " are after.

Given a fixed situation that barely evolves, George Lautner adroitly makes the most of it. Some moments in Les Tontons Flingueurs (the first council of administration, the silencer firing during the wedding proposal, the final ceremony) are very funny, some a bit long (the drunk scene). None are boring. The dialogs are vintage Michel Audiard, the well-known specialist. A very good year, clean to the taste, generous, full-bodied with weight and substance. Some lines a bit watered down, smell of a vineyard but are funny, and that's what counts.

Il y a des jours comme ça à marquer d'une croix blanche. Pour Marie, ça commence avec un test de grossesse positif, un accident de voiture et un licenciement. Pour Hortense, le portable à la main, la quête déraisonnable de sensations sexuelles commence dans les embouteillages. Pour Luis comme pour Maurice, l'arrivée surprise de l'être aimée les plongent entre rêve et cauchemar. Si certain d'entre eux se connaissent, d'autres vont être amenés à se croiser par hasard. L'une en sortira grandie, l'autre brisée. L'un l'aura bien cheché, l'autre n'aura rien demandé. In n'y aura pas mort d'homme.

Critic :

There are two comedies in " Reines d'un jour " : leaving one with amazing portraits of two women, tinted with melancholy and raw humour, between comedy and disarray.

Story :

"You're such a cutie… You can live here with us forever if you want…" Little do Paul and Edith Guetz know that this effusive declaration to their baby in his cot will prove to be prophetic. 28 years later Tanguy is still at home and just loves living with his parents. He's brilliant, charming ,and attractive", all appears to be harmonious at the Guetz's place, on the surface at least. In fact, Edith can no longer stand Tanguy. She's even seeing a psychiatrist on the quiet and feels guilty about feeling like this about her own son. But when you've been "perfect" parents, making your offspring understand you want him out proves to be a more difficult undertaking than imagined.

"Tu es tellement mignon... Si tu veux tu pourras rester à la maison toute ta vie..."
Penchés sur Tanguy, Paul et Edith Guetz n'imaginaient pas à quel point cette déclaration d'amour à leur nourrisson s'avèrerait prophétique. 28 ans plus tard Tanguy vit toujours chez ses parents et s'y trouve parfaitement bien. Tanguy est brillant, charmant et séduisant tout ne semble qu'harmornie chez les Guetz, en apparence tout au moins. Car en fait Edith ne supporte plus Tanguy. Elle consulte même en cachette et s'en veut d'avoir de tels sentiments de haine à l'égard de la chair de sa chair Mais quand on a été des parents "parfaits", faire comprendre à son fils qu'on ne veut plus de lui, s'avère être une entreprise beaucoup plus difficile que prévu.

In Tanguy, Etienne Chatillez, shows that he has one of the biggest comic potentials in French cinema. We await with great curiously the havoc he will cause the day he finally let's his warped mind loose.

Histoire :

François Pignon est comptable dans une grosse entreprise. Il est sur le point d'être licencié quand le bruit court qu'il est homosexuel. Il n'en est rien, mais la rumeur est la plus forte. La direction décide de garder Pignon pour des raisons "politiquement correctes".
"Le Placard" est l'histoire d'un homme timide et discret qui passe brusquement pour un marginal bien qu'il n'ait rien changé à son comportement. C'est le regard des autres qui a changé.

"Both funny and poignant".

Story :

Amélie's life is simple, she likes feasting on crèmes brûlées, skimming stones across the Seine, observing people and letting her imagination roam free. Then, when 22, she suddenly finds her purpose in life: to fix up other people's troubles. Amélie's mission is rudely interrupted when she meets a strange, off-beat young man, Nino Quincampoix. Nino works shift jobs on a ghost train and in a sex shop, and collects photos littering the ground outside automatic photo booths. He's desperately trying to identify the stranger whose photo keeps turning up, when his search is suddenly interrupted by his encounter with Amélie. Although fascinated by him, she plays hide-and-seek games, afraid of really opening up to this appealing young man.

La vie d'Amélie est simple, elle aime casser la croûte des crèmes brûlées, faire des ricochets au bord de la Seine, observer les gens et laisser son imagination divaguer.A vingt-deux ans, coup de théâtre, Amélie se découvre un but : réparer la vie des autres. La mission d'Amélie est brusquement perturbée par la rencontre d'un garçon étrange et décalé, Nino Quincampoix. Employé à mi-temps d'un train fantôme et d'un sex-shop, Nino collectionne les photos abandonnées autour des photomatons. Il cherche désespérément à identifier un inconnu dont la photo réapparaît sans cesse, lorsque son enquête est soudain perturbée par la rencontre d'Amélie. Amélie est fascinée par Nino, mais elle préfère jouer à cache-cache avec lui, plutôt que de se découvrir vraiment.

La folle journée d'un libertin appelé par mille plaisirs, attiré par plusieurs femmes et qui doit écrire cependant l'article "Morale" de l'Encyclopédie en quelques heures, lui qui ne pense qu'à la volupté… Diderot, aux prises avec une aventurière, subit les délires gastronomiques d'une baronne trop gourmande, lutte contre la censure d'un cardinal rouge et exécrable et tente de contrôler les assauts de son épouse, de sa fille, d'un chevalier nymphomane, des marquis encyclopédistes et licencieux et d'une jeune fille qui veut se débarrasser de son pucelage avant le soir. Une journée torride et excentrique, un moment de chair, de soie et d'esprit, où la philosophie lutine avec l'érotisme.
